JTREE signs Philanthropic Partnership Agreement with Joshua Tree National Park making progress towards development of a residential youth-oriented outdoor education camp.
On Friday, November 20, 2020, Lori Rennie, Board Chair of JTREE, and David Smith, Superintendent of Joshua Tree National Park, signed a Philanthropic Partnership Agreement. This agreement documents a sustained relationship and collaboration between JTNP and JTREE for the development and operation of a youth-oriented residential outdoor education campus in Joshua Tree National Park.
Complementing the Park’s current K-12 day-use curriculum-based education program, JTREE’s residential education program shall welcome a diverse body of students and reflect the interdisciplinary nature of environmental education featuring the interplay between science, technology, engineering, math, social and cultural sciences, and the humanities.
JTREE Chair, Lori Rennie comments, “A Philanthropic Partnership with Joshua Tree National Park marks a critical step forward for JTREE as we continue to fulfill our mission to immerse, engage and educate young people in Joshua Tree National Park, inspiring them to live healthy lives, become socially involved, and take action to sustain a healthy planet. With support like this from David Smith and his team, we are now ready to move into Project Visioning, the first official phase of campus planning development.”
The education program shall be primarily established, funded, constructed and operated by and in collaboration with JTREE, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. For more information visit www.JTreeOutdoorEd.org.
