Big Questions: How does a desert oasis support plants and animals?

Small Question: Why is matter movement important?

Objective: By the end of this lesson, aligned with standard 5-LS2-1, students will be able to: Develop a simple model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment in a desert ecosystem. Generate ideas for creating a desert oasis that supports matter movement and the interactions among these components.

Materials: Water bottles and sunscreen. JTREE will provide remaining materials.
