Learning History
Objective: Students will learn about the history of the lands on which we live and the Mojave Desert where Joshua Tree National Park exists. A guest presenter from 29 Palms Band of Mission Indians (Tribal Historic Preservation Office) will talk with students about the Chemehuevi tribal culture. The Chemehuevi lived on and cherished this land long before us. Through this students will gain an understanding and respect for the Chemehuevi culture and the importance of protecting the land. This knowledge will help students to be stewards of our desert.
