Grades TK/K: Solar Impacts
February 11, 2025 @ 8:50 am - 9:20 am
Big Questions: Why do some desert critters like to be in the sun and some do not?
Small Question: What resources do animals require to survive?
Objective: Students will learn about the benefits and downfalls of sun exposure. Students will explore how shade corresponds with the effects of the sun.
Vocabulary: Warmer, Cooler, Dark, Light, Temperature, Shade
Materials: Water bottles and sunscreen. JTREE will provide remaining materials.
K-ESS3-1 Earth and Human Activity
Modeling in K–2 builds on prior experiences and progresses to include using and developing models (i.e., diagram, drawing, physical replica, diorama, dramatization, storyboard) that represent concrete events or design solutions. Use a model to represent relationships in the natural world. Use a model to represent the relationship between the needs of different plants and animals (including humans) and the places they live.
3-5-ETS1-2 Engineering Design
Generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
MS-ETS1-2 Engineering Design
Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
